How to Find Information about a Specific Corporation or Limited Liability Company
Use the Business Entities
link to get a list of all active corporations, limited liability companies, trademarks, tradenames, and limited
partnerships on the system. An active corporation is one that has not been purged to our history file. Normally, we purge
corporations and limited liability companies from the system after they have expired, withdrawn, dissolved, merged, or were administratively
dissolved or revoked more than six years prior.
At the top of this screen, you will see boxes marked Name and File Number, and buttons marked Alpha and Word.
You may enter the first few letters or words of the corporation name here, and click on the Search button. If you happen to know
the file number which the Division uses internally to uniquely identify all corporations, you may enter it instead. This file number is
printed on much of the correspondence which the Division sends to corporations, such as approval and rejection letters, annual reports, and
delinquency notices. Note: You do not have to enter leading spaces or hyphens in the file number.
To use the word search, enter the word you are searching for and click on the button next to Word, then click on the Search button.
The search will return all entities which have that word in their name. The search also allows for advanced boolean searches (combinations of
and, or, and wildcards). For detailed information on using these advanced features, see the Advanced Searches
section.
NOTE: The Alpha Search is based on the exact corporation name, and is limited to only active entities as defined above,
so if you cannot find the entity you are looking for, try some of these suggestions:
- Add words such as "the" to the beginning of the name.
- Only type as much of the name as you know for certain. You will have the ability to scroll forward and backward, alphabetically, using the
arrow icons at the bottom of the screen.
- Use the File Number, if you know it. The corporation may have changed it's name since you last looked at it.
- Use the History
Business Entities search. It works the same as the business entities search. Unfortunately, the searches currently do not
cross-check between active business entities, history business entities, and old business entity names.
- Use the Old Business Entity
Names List. This list shows entities which have changed their names, and will link you directly to the entity record showing it's
current name. Again, this search works exactly like the active and history business entity searches.
- Use the True Business Entity
Names List. This list shows foreign corporations which have adopted a fictitious name for use in Arizona (per ARS 10-1506). This will also link you directly to the corporation record showing it's
current name. Again, this search works exactly like the active and history business entity searches.
- Try using the Advanced Search features.
Regardless of which search you use, you will see our internal file number, which is helpful to staff if you should need to contact the Commission
about a specific business entity, along with the name of the entity and, on the active business entities search, the type.
To view the detailed information about the entity, simply click on the name. NOTE:
You will only be able to view information on Corporations and Limited Liability Companies. All others shown on
the screen are maintained by the Secretary of State's office. If you should choose a Trademark, Tradename, or
Limited Partnership, you will see a message to that effect. If you click on the link in the middle of
the message, you will be transferred automatically to the Secretary of State's web page and be presented the detailed information
on the record you have chosen.
To return to the main menu, use the links on the bottom of each screen, or your browser's BACK button.
